Frequently asked questions about the LIM
The LIM is regularly reviewed and updated.
Companies must provide council with a full package for review, including product specifications, professional standard photos (including written permission for council to reproduce the images), technical drawings, recent local installations and warranties. This must be in a format that is compatible with the LIM documentation. Companies must also provide evidence that a certified access consultant has been engaged.
Yes. Each product profiled states ‘or equivalent’ which means that different products may be supplied provided they satisfy the identified performance criteria, recommended standards, equal access guidance and product specifications. Where a particular product or supplier is profiled in this document, Council is NOT nominating this product or supplier as the selected choice.
Please note profiling of a product in the LIM does not mean it is on a panel of suppliers nor does it replace the need to observe procurement policies and guidelines.
The LIM sits outside the Sunshine Coast Council Planning Scheme (however the LIM is referenced in the Planning Scheme) and is a ‘living document’ which will grow and evolve as council’s needs change, products improve and technical information advances. It is updated yearly, (please observe version control).
The LIM is aimed at designers, project delivery personnel and maintenance teams, for both developer and council delivered assets. It is a living document which will grow and evolve as councils’ needs change.
The LIM is not intended to take away the designer’s role of designing for a site specific response. Colour choices, materials, layout and selection of unique character products should be in line with master planning, place making principles and in consultation with the community. The LIM is a platform to guide selection of robust, accessible products and illustrates design standards that have been researched by council for ready reference.
The LIM is a central source of information designed to save time by presenting well researched material. Components of this document may be used within a contract document, but users should undertake their own investigation to confirm the information is suitable for this purpose.
